Upcoming Art Exhibition: Inspired by Melbourne - Simone Wolowiec
We're excited to welcome Simone Wolowiec to our Gallery and Event space here at Mulbury in Highett, Melbourne on February 20th & 21st, 2021, open 10am - 4pm each day.
Simone Wolowiec is an ex-professional sportswoman, turned artist who rekindled her love of painting and drawing to chase a childlike sense of joy. Based in Melbourne, Simone uses her surrounds as inspiration to create colourful, dynamic and familiar paintings which celebrate some of Melbourne’s most iconic locations.
Whether it’s catching the 35 tram, meeting someone at ‘the clocks’ or getting a coffee on Degraves, each poster sets a scene filled with familiar aspects of our everyday Melbourne lives. The bright colour palette and the use of both strong and fluid lines generate a sense of excitement and movement – just like the garden city itself.
Perfectly stated by Simone herself, it’s artwork that’ll simply make you smile.
Simone's original fine art works are painted in oils on canvas. For illustration works, she uses a combination of oils, acrylics and ink on paper. She loves using oils which are rich in colour and bring vibrancy as well as beautiful pastel tones to my work. Whilst always loving the traditional mediums, she has recently created works digitally, enjoying the clean lines and punchy colours that digital technology allows.
Where does Simone's inspiration come from?
"The 1940's, 50's and 60's era greatly inspires my work! I particularly love the fashion, design and pop art culture of those times. The 50's and 60's to me captures a sense of growing optimism, hopefulness and dreams!"
Be sure to make time to drop into Simone's exhibition!
